Review: Sidelined

When I read the synopsis for Sidelined, I knew I needed it: a female football coach takes the head coach position at a Minnesota high school, and sparks fly between her and her offensive coordinator.

I am admittedly not much of a football fan but I love any book with strong female characters who push boundaries in male-dominated careers. Charlie (Charlotte) is a perfect mix of sweet and tough, and Connor is a quiet, closed-off teddy bear. This is a romance with light steam but nice sexual tension, likable side characters, and snappy dialogue. This is apparently part of a series but stands alone!

I wholeheartedly endorse this book for anyone who enjoys romantic comedy with enemies to lovers. I read it as a palate cleanser between two heavy books and it was perfect.

I think light and fun books are an essential part of any balanced reading diet. Some people might find it odd to jump from thought-provoking literary fiction to hair-raising thrillers to heartwarming romance and women’s fiction, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Sidelined is available today, August 27, 2019!

I received an advance copy from Gallery Books. All opinions are my own.
